Dr. Donald Castell

Dr. Castell has been Sandhill Scientific's Medical Director since 2000. He has studied the esophagus both clinically and in the research laboratory for over 35 years. His work in the research laboratory has won him acclaim and in 1990 Dr. Castell received the Kirsner award for clinical research by the AGA. He has authored over 500 publications including the major text in this field, The Esophagus, 4th edition, 2004.

Despite his huge contribution to GI research, if you ask him, Dr. Castell likes to be introduced as a clinician and an educator of clinicians. In 1999, he was elected President of the AGA. His former trainees include many of the current experts in esophageal function. After sitting in on one of his classes you will understand why the AGA recognized him as the 2001 Educator of the Year.
