1. How do I clean my Konigsberg Instruments Motility Probe?
The following information is supplied as a guide for cleaning and sterilization of Konigsberg Instruments motility probes.
• All disinfectants should be used following their manufacture's recommendations for proper dilution, sterilization time, and rinsing.
• Sandhill Scientific and Konigsberg Instruments Inc. assumes no liability for damage due to improper forms of cleaning and sterilization of the probe.
• Enzol, an enzymatic detergent manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, is a pre-soak detergent that is recommended and approved for use with Konigsberg Instruments probes. Enzol is designed to remove any residual proteins before the probe is sterilized.
• CIDEX OPA or CIDEX 14 And CIDEX 28 day solutions, manufactured by Johnson & Johnson are forms of liquid sterilization and are approved for use with Konigsberg Instruments probes. Enzol is fully compatible with any of the Cidex products listed here.
• NOTE: The probe connector and compensation module MUST NOT be immersed in any liquid solution.
• NOTE: If an enzymatic detergent is not used to remove any residual proteins before the probe is sterilized. The probe will turn a yellow/orange to brown over time.
2. Does the Konigsberg Instruments probe have any "latex"?
• No
• The KI Esophageal Motility and Anorectal probes are made of:
· Dow Corning Medical Grade Silicone Tubing.
• For the Anorectal probes.
· The StimSENSE balloon (Reorder #A861070 (Adult); A865070 (Pediatric)) that is tied onto the probe is made of "latex". A Latex Free balloon can also be used.
• The Bernstein port and balloon port are made of:
· Medical Grade Silastic.
3. What can I do if my Konigsberg Instruments Motility Probe drifts?
• After calibrating the Konigsberg Instruments Motility Probe and the patient has been intubated;
• Wait for 10 minutes before starting the motility study. This allows the KI Motility Probe to come up to body temperature and will help with drift during the study.
• Zero and baseline the probe while probe is in the stomach.
• Start the pull back to find LES, PIP and continue the study.
• If the Konigsberg Instruments probe continues to drift, the probe may need to be serviced by Konigsberg Instruments.
4. Do you have a "Loaner" or "Rental" Konigsberg Instruments Motility Probe while my probe is being repaired?
• Sandhill keeps a small number of some probes for Loaner or Rental use.
• Contact Sandhill and have the model number of the probe you require available to better match your requirements.
Note: All probes and models may not be available.
• Loaner - if your probe has been purchased less then a year before repair is needed.
• Rental - if your probe has been purchased more then a year before repair is needed
• (Rental fees are $495.00 per month, one month minimum).
5. How long will it take to get the Konigsberg Instruments probe repaired?
• Normal repair time is six (6) weeks.
